Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Small joint implant arthroplasty is heavily marketed recently; however, evidence for its superiority over traditional procedures should be questioned. Discussion will include small joint arthroplasty with respect to indications, advantages/ disadvantages, and outcomes. Implant arthroplasty of the thumb CMCJ will be compared to trapezial resection with or without suspension/ interposition. PIPJ arthroplasty, both silicone and surface replacement (SR), will be compared to one another and to arthrodesis. Attendees will learn that prosthetic arthroplasty is in evolution and not necessary the final solution for the treatment of small joint arthropathies.
Learning Objective: To increase knowledge on the pros, cons and outcomes of prosthetic arthroplasty of the thumb CMC and finger PIP joints.
